Wellbutrin didn't do anything for me. It didn't even register a blip.
I started taking Wellbutrin about 6 weeks ago. It has helped me to take the edge of my stress and anxiety. I started to get depressed about men, sex, my weight, finances. Down to having no friends at all or not caring to. Not only am I happier, i've lost weight, got a new boyfriend, and I am alot happier. I'd recommend it to anyone who has been diagnosed with depression before.
I was taking Zoloft and had diarrhea and took longer to ejaculate. Switched to Wellbutrin and no more diarrha but have noticed my sinuses dry up and this makes me wake up at night feeling I can't breathe. I blow my nose and pretty much can get back to sleep. Otherwise feel OK, spending less time dwelling on the negative.
I started taking wellbutrin last year. Shortly afterwards I developed a 'pins and needles' feeling in my extremities. My doctor insisted it was not the wellbutrin. All of my testing came back negative and the symptoms resided. They are now back. Anyone have these side effects with wellbutrin?
I have been on 450mg of Wellbutrin for a few months now. It has taken the edge off for me but I have ear ringing that is getting worse.I went thru all the tests with ENT with everything showing nothing wrong physicallyy which leads to a side effect from the W. Has anyone had this and how did you manage/cure it?
I am an adult female who began taking Wellbutrin in early 2003 (my mid-30's). Apparently the side effect of HAIR LOSS was cleverly down-played by GSK. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the Wellbutrin package insert or on their website when I first started taking it. A year ago, HAIR LOSS became a noticable problem - I naively thought my body was simply adjusting to this med. Six months ago, after the dosage was raised to 300mg per day, HAIR LOSS became a serious problem - I am now the sad owner of roughly 60% of the hair I had prior to taking Wellbutrin. Unfortunately, I did not come across HAIR LOSS as a reported side effect until I researched it on an online PDR a few months ago. I strongly suggest you research the side effects of ALL meds you are taking (or the meds your doctor suggests) on the INTERNET since the package inserts may omit important facts. If anyone has encountered HAIR LOSS with other anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds, please post it. Thanks.
I have been on and off wellbutrin now for almost a year. It doesn't completely take care of my depression but it helps. Side effects I have expierenced: Dry mouth pins & needles in extremities and back, sleepiness, eye pain, ringing in ears, sinus dryness, rapid heart beat, and also tremors, when I stop taking it i experience aggitation, anxiety worse than I had before taking and depression. I want to get off to get rid of side effects but I feel to bad when I stop taking it I would love to find something to help but it is at least better than paxil, prozac and others I have taken
I've been on and off Wellbutrin 150mg for the past 4 years. I was taking it for SADD. After going off it recently, when I restarted it for a bout of anxiety, I felt completely different. I was jumpy, had disturbed sleep, ringing in my ears and pins and needles in my extremities. I am tapering it off now because of these side effects.
I am 40 years old and have been taking wellbutrin for 1 year due to divorce depression. I have beome more depressed, more anxious, hostile, and have lost alot of hair.
i took wellbutrin for a while and it didnt do crap for me. i did notice however that i did get more depressed, and i got sick. well went an researched on it and foung out that taking a high dose of it will indeed make u have seizures. some of the symptoms that u get before expirence seizures is ringing in your ears, that the bigest one. the other most common ones include pin pricking like feeling in your hands or in rare cases all over your body, incresed anxeity. so for all of you out there taking more than 150 mgs please so get a second oppion
I'm currently attempting to come off 5 years of Wellbutrin 300mg p/day. I just escaped Effexxor XR withdrawal about a month ago-that was hell!-the Wellbutrin-free road isn't looking much more promising. I'm having severe, irrational, paranoia;pins-and-needles sensations all over. I decided and informed my docs that I was tapering both Efexxor and Wellbutrin for my own good. Surprisingly no doc seem to think 5 yrs was an excessive period of use-something like:if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I was given both meds for anxiety years ago. I now feel they've done all the "good" they can possibly do. My advice to anyone contemplating either drug: Don't. Find an alternate route. Getting off them is worse than the reason you'll start them!
I was prescribed bupropion three weeks ago for adult ADD. I had two siezures--a side effect not mentioned on the bottle or by the prescribing physician. I ended up being found on the ground unconscious by two women who called an ambulence for me. I spent two days in the hospital and when released without being told it might be the drug, I had another siezure which left me lying out in the hot tropical sun cut and bleeding from the violence of the siezure for over two hours before I regained consciousness. I shuddar to think of the consequences had I been driving down the fwy when I had one of the siezures.
It’s 11:00 in the morning and your energy is waning. Minutes seem to tick by like hours and your mind feels foggy. You’ve still got six more hours to look alert and act productive and get over anti anxiety medication, so how do you cope with the afternoon blahs? Follow these six tips!
1. If you have a job that involves sitting at a desk all day or staring at a computer screen, take five minutes to stand up or lean back, close your eyes and stretch, especially in your shoulder and leg areas. Being seated all the time can make your whole body feel stiff and sleepy. A good stretch session helps limber up your body and gets the blood flowing again.
2. Avoid the tempting lure of caffeine or sugar-laden foods such as coffee, tea or chocolate. Caffeine may perk up your energy levels temporarily, but it also has a bad habit of leaving you sluggish after the effect has worn off. Instead, choose whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables to give your body the fuel it really wants! Eating healthier will boost your mood, elevate your alertness, change anti anxiety medication and make you feel better all day long.
3. Along with healthier foods, take a quick 10-15 minute walk during your lunch break. Just a few minutes will give you a burst of energy that refreshes you and makes you feel more alert – while burning off your lunch calories in the process!
4. Sometimes, afternoon slumps can be your body’s way of telling you that it needs something. You may be feeling tired if your blood sugar is low (which happens especially after the effect of those caffeine and high sugar foods has worn off!). Packing a low calorie snack like graham crackers, granola, fruit or vegetable slices can give your body a boost and keep you from feeling hungry in the late afternoon and caving in to the urge to devour the entire contents of the vending machine after work!
5. Drowsiness is often a sign that you’re not getting enough water. Drinking more water throughout the day not only helps keep you awake, but also keeps you from feeling those hunger pangs that inevitably creep up in mid-morning. Taking a large sports bottle that you can drink from throughout the day is a great way to get your recommended eight glasses a day as well!
6. If afternoon fatigue is a recurring problem, it may be a side effect of medications you are taking. Allergy pills are well known culprits, as are some blood pressure and anxiety/depression medicines. Don’t try to circumvent these effects with caffeine, otherwise you’ll overload your body with stimulants while it’s already trying to deal with drowsiness, and you’ll feel mentally and physically exhausted. Instead, try a short 15-20 minute catnap. You’ll be surprised how refresh you’ll feel when you wake up! (Don’t try this at work though – I know it’s tempting!)
If you follow these tips on a regular basis, you’ll not only make it through the afternoon blahs, but you’ll also feel better physically and mentally, sleep better at night, and wake up rejuvenated and re-energized the next morning. Make it a GREAT day! anti anxiety medication

Wow! Glad I saw these comments. I was set up for ANOTHER nerve conduction test Monday to see why my hands keep feeling like they have pins in them. They didn't find anything 6 months ago, why would they now? I think it is the Wellbutrin. Sure explains the hair in the sink!!
Hi. I've been obsessing over the internet, looking for anything I can find on Wellbutrin. I took this drug for a total of 4 weeks. On week 3 at 350mg I decided to tapper down the dose and quit the drug completely. Glad I did, after researching the effects and problems with Wellbutrin there is no way in hell I'll ever take it again.
I experienced all the bad side effects, the insomnia was the worst, also nightmares, ringing in my ears. The third night after I quit, I slept for 12 hours and had the most wonderful dreams! I've been depressed all my life but I'd rather be derpressed than take Wellbutrin.I just hope that I haven't done any long term damage to my health. Some people have had major problems having only been on it for 2 weeks. I'm beginning to see how evil GlaxoKlineSmith really is.
Started Wellbutrin xl 150mg too soon to tell if its helping.I woke earlier one morning and without thinking i took my daily dose. Well the time overlap must have upped the dose to 300mg which i know most people are prescribed anyway. BIG MISTAKE-I started sweating, shaking, Repeating the same words over and over in my mind, but i was too tense to talk aloud. It was the same HORRIBLE feeling that i had experienced years back on a bad coke high.I know it said take at the same time each day but come on!?
Oh and for those of you just on wellbutrin i cant imagine you get much sleep. Im taking seroquel at nite and its wonderful!!

What are the possible side effects of pain pills?
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking pain pills and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:
I have never experienced the pins and needles feeling, but I have extreme hairloss. Thinking about shaving it off!!! (Im a girl)
I took 450mg of Wellbutrin for approximately 6 months last year. I developed a severe case of tremors. I told my doctor the cause of the tremors had to be the Wellbutrin. My FP doctor insisted I have a brain scan and see a neurologist. The neurologist determined the tremors were caused by the Wellbutrin. My psych reduced the dosage to 150mg daily. I was very happy with Wellbutrin for treatment of my depression, but I couldn't handle the tremors. I was afraid to pick up a glass to drink because of the shaking, and others noticed it. I was asked at airport security if I was afraid to fly and by my dentist if I was nervous. My children noticed it as well. I wish there was a drug as effective as Wellbutrin but without the side effect of tremors for me.
Hi, i'm a 38 year old man and have been taking Wellbutrin for 8 months. Before Wellbutrin I was on Effexor EX, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, and a few other anti-drepression meds for a previous 3 years. Truthfully I don't think any of these drugs benefits exceed the side effects they caused in my case.
Comming off of Effexor and Zoloft was terrible. Everytime I moved my eyes side to side it was like tripping on acid with the faint sound of like a star wars light sabre being swung my head, and this went on for 2-3 weeks.
Paxil made me feel like I was always a second or two behind everyone else and moving through quick sand, impossible to make a decision, even something simple like comming to a traffic light and having to tell myself that Green means Go, not slow down and god forbbid if it was yellow and how close I was, if I should stop or keep going, I might go through a red light if I make the wrong decision, sort of OCD-ish, but my problem is depression, not OCD.
Celexa was like, well... I forget, but not a good experience or i'd still be on it. Back to Wellbutrin of which I take 1 300 mg tab daily.
I have a non-stop ringing only in my right ear which switches in intensity from hour to hour or moment to moment. My hands always feel clamy and I have a tingling in the arches of my feel when i'm laying down, but do I still feel depressed? Not entirely which is strange especially because I have a siren in my right ear, cold wet hands, and pins & needles in my feet..? Go figure.
Will I stay on Wellbutrin? Probably not for much longer. I'm trying not to be to negative about these meds but it's frustrating as hell just wanting to be happy when you have a good job, an understanding wife who loves you, family and friends, nice house/cars/2 dogs that use the doggie door all by themselves...
They may be doing TONS of good for others, too bad we're not all the same for that very reason.
The answer is out there, so don't give up hope. There's always hope.
If you feel your doctor is getting frustrated with your case, find a new one and be sure to detail your case history to them. A fresh perspective from a different doctor may be your ticket to a new life.
Ear Ringing due to Wellbutrin. Has anyone had ear ringing and had it stop by lowering the dosage? I'm up to 400mg, and the ringing is driving me insane. Can't sleep and it's so loud that it wakes me up.
